Description

Eco-design is defined as the combination of environment and design with an intention to design for environmental sustainability. According to Vezzoli and Manzini, design for environmental sustainability entails using smaller amounts of resources than needed by the current system. There are many different aspects we can examine to be environmentally sustainable such as life cycle analysis, energy efficiency, minimum waste, minimum material usage, recyclability, water consumption, disassembly and material safety. The goal is to help encourage changes in behaviour that creates a sustainable future in terms of environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just society for present and future generations.
